Make Ancient Art with Plaster Moldings
Saturday, October 24th
2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Step into the world of ancient art and craftsmanship in this hands-on workshop led by Hyde-Park Moldings. Participants will learn about the history and uses of plaster, its role in museums and the preservation of historical artwork, and the traditional techniques behind decorative plaster moldings.
Participants will create their own plaster cast through a hands-on casting activity while exploring the craftsmanship of ancient cultures. A brief presentation on classical architecture and plaster moldings will introduce historic decorative elements, followed by a drawing activity where participants trace and study a classical architectural detail. The workshop will conclude with demolding the plaster cast, allowing participants to reveal and take home their finished creations.
This interactive program is perfect for children and adults who enjoy history, architecture, art, and creating something by hand.
